Two settings that matter on every platform
Whichever device you use, two options in your player make more difference than anything else. Hardware decoding moves video processing to dedicated hardware instead of the general-purpose processor, which transforms playback on modest devices. Buffer size controls how far ahead the player downloads before starting; a larger buffer trades a slightly longer start-up for far fewer interruptions on an imperfect connection.
